5 Big Steampunk Events In 2012

Steampunk Events 2012

The number of steampunk conventions seems to only be increasing from year to year, giving more steampunks from all over the world the opportunity to attend one of these incredible events. Some of these conventions are brand new while others have been around for a few years and have earned themselves a little more experience and a higher number of attendees. The following five events are some of the larger ones that have a couple years under their rivet studded belts.

Victoria Steam Exhibition 2012

Victoria Steam Expo 2012 
This event is held at the Express Hotel in Victoria, BC on April 21st and 22nd. With a basic $50 weekend pass you’ll have access to vendor booths, panel discussions, and the Saturday Evening Steampunk Cabaret Burlesque. Tickets for The Friday Night Absinthe Tasting and History Presentation are an additional $50. Captain Robert Brown, member of Abney Park and author of The Wrath of Fate, will be in attendance as a literary headliner and Ian Finch Field will be there presenting as a featured artist. The Steampunk World’s Fair 2012

Steampunk Worlds Fair 2012 
Located in Piscataway, NJ, The Steampunk World’s Fair runs from May 18th to May 20th and passes are available for $50 for the entire weekend. A number of upgrades are available to give you access to features such as The Goblin Market and VIP Meet & Greet. Additional upgrades are also available for an evening of Absinthe Tasting hosted by musical artist Voltaire for $27.50 or buffet dinner and high tea for $55. World Steam Expo 2012

World Steam Expo 2012 
On the Memorial Day weekend, May 25-28, Dearborn, MI will be hosting the World Steam Expo. A 4 day badge will cost you $45 and you’ll have access to an extensive vendor’s hall and a number of events and activities which have yet to be announced. Special guests appearing a this event include authors G. D. Falksen, Cherie Priest, Gail Carriger, and Jay Lake. Their website, and further info, can be found at http://www.worldsteamexpo.com/

Weekend at the Asylum 2012

Weekend At The Asylum 2012 
For those who live in or would like to travel to the UK, the city of Lincoln will be hosting their Asylum event on September 6th to 9th. You can get your weekend passes for £22 which gives you access to all daytime activities such as the Bazaar Eclectica market and various other talks, presentations, and competitions. Additional tickets are available for evening events and entertainment such as Lady Elsie’s Fashion Extravagansa, performances by Don’t Go Into The Cellar Theatre Company, and The Major’s Soiree. Steamcon 2012

Steamcon 2012 
Bellevue, WA will be hosting the 4th annual Steamcon on October 26th to 28th. Given the close proximity to Halloween, the theme of this event will be Victorian Monsters (such as Dracula, Spring Heeled Jack, Frankenstein’s Monster, and Jack the Ripper) with a steampunk spin. Adult weekend passes are available for $35 and will give you access to merchants, panels, art exhibits, games, and other activities.     I’ve been going to SteamCon in Washington 3 years in a row, it’s a blast! So many fun costumes and great vendors.

    So glad I saw this!!!!!! The Piscataway event is only about a half hour from me! This year it’s in May and I haven’t missed it. Thanks for posting all this info :)
